Position Requirements

Education
  • Degree in IT/Information Systems or equivalent

 

 Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience working within various IT roles, ranging from support, design, architecture, deployments, security
  • Networking fundamentals with key focus on Cisco, Juniper and Fortigate products
  • Understanding of routing protocol
  • Server fundamentals with key focus on Windows Server, Red Hat Linux and VM Ware Virtualization
  • Firewall and Security skills with key focus on Juniper and Fortigate devices
  • Call Centre skills with key focus on Noble and xCally Call Centre solutions
  • Cloud technology – planning of cloud transitioning, running and optimizing a cloud service for performance and cost

 

Certifications

 

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of network administration and support, cyber security, digitisation, disaster recovery
  • Broad knowledge and experience of Microsoft Enterprise technologies
  • Broad knowledge of IT infrastructure tools and services (Networks, Servers, Printing, Security, and Voice).
  • Knowledge and Experience of virtual servers and/or containers
  • Understanding of Cloud Computing Environments, Data Centre Equipment, Networking and related Protocols, Databases, Servers, Workstations, Peripherals, and Software solutions
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL disciplines
  • Broad knowledge of hardware, networks, operating systems, databases and information security in a virtualized environment

  • Ability to set and maintain infrastructure in branch offices
    Experience Windows Servers 2012-2019, VMWare 6.7 (and newer), VMWare Horizon

Main Purpose (Why does the exist)

To be responsible for delivering the country’s ICT infrastructure, including networking, designing, installation, configuration, support and maintenance of hardware, operating systems enterprise service management tools, and the country’s core IT Delivery and support systems.

 

Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Oversees and ensures the implementation of the Country Corporate Compliance Programme.
  • Evaluates local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
  • Tests computer software or hardware, using standard diagnostic testing equipment and procedures.
  • Analyses network data to determine network usage, disk space availability, or server function.
  • Performs routine maintenance or standard repairs to networking or equipment.
  • Identifies causes of networking problems, using diagnostic testing software and equipment.
  • Ensures installation of new hardware or software systems or components, for integration with existing network systems. Configures wide area network (WAN) or local area network (LAN) routers or related equipment.
  • Conducts research on hardware or software products to meet the technical networking or security needs of the subsidiary.
  • Creates or updates technical documentation for network installations or changes to existing installations.
  • Documents network support activities to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures daily network backup data.
  • Troubleshoot network or connectivity problems for users to ensure efficiency.
  • Install network software, including security or firewall software.
  • Configures security settings or access permissions for groups or individuals.
  • Analyses and identifies computer network breaches or attempted breaches for network security.
