A Job vacancy has arisen within Letshego Holdings Limited for the Platform Engineering Lead Role.

 

  1. Main Purpose (Why does the exist) done

To design and lead the technical implementation of the company’s infrastructure for the Data and Engineering team. This role is intended to make the engineering and data teams' lives easier in continuously delivering solutions to their users by building infrastructure that supports the entire solution delivery lifecycle. This role requires an individual with a strong technical background, leadership skills, and the ability to navigate complex technical and organisational landscapes.

 

  1. Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities done
  • Design and implement scalable and reliable systems to support software development.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists to design and implement technical designs and solutions.
  • Monitor and optimise the performance of infrastructure and applications following industry and company best practices.
  • Design and implement continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for applications.
  • Identify and deliver effective solutions to problems that may arise with reusable infrastructure and the applications that use them.
  • Deliver Infrastructure solutions that are cost-effective for the organisation.
  • Ensuring Platform security and compliance.

  • Cost reduction is a huge part of the role so need to be in tune with the leading and most cost effective technologies.
  • Ensuring the security and compliance aspects of the organisation's platforms is crucial.
  • Ensuring the platform is highly scalable and highly available.
  • The platform must be able to serve the organisation's needs promptly as business needs change regularly and quickly.

 

  1. Education, Knowledge and Experience of Job Holder:
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
  • Post Graduate degree or AWS DevOps Engineer Certificate is an advantage. 
  • 6+ years as a DevOps/Platform engineer with a minimum of 2 years in the financial sector 
  • Proficiency in coding and deploying infrastructure as code in the AWS ecosystem 
  • Proven track record deploying and maintaining a microservices (containerised) based application 
  • Proven track record working with a cloud provider preferably AWS (An AWS DevOps Engineer certification would be advantageous) 
  • Proven track record building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines 
  • Experience with Unix and Linux systems for server implementation and management
